September Newsletter, Brick & Mortar Special Model, CCA Event Round 2, & Iquitos!!

September newsletter is here!! Let's take a look inside!!

Meet Juriaan!!

Juriaan is the fall Collector Club special run. He is on the Vermeer/Friesian/Friesian Sport Horse mold. He is is a rich glossy light chestnut coat.He is available while supplies last, he costs $75. I got to see him in the Collector Club tent this past Breyerfest and knew I had to have him once available, I ordered him right away when he became available online and can't wait for him to arrive!!

A new workshop is also available, learning how to do paint detailed hair on appaloosas, the deluxe club bonus stablemates are also available!! Plus they come with the pin for the club, slightly hoping for the Wedgewood or Copenhagen for the deco as you get two, the other is the bay/silver bay appaloosa. The gold models haven't thrilled me recently but the softer blues have been nice. The featured story is about showing model horses around the world, seems like a really interesting read. This months giveaway is Arachne, I'm skipping this one as I plan to get Arachne at a later time. Last but certainly not least, the sneak peak!!
This looks to be the winter raffle model as most of the time they are silver filigree. Some are speculating Bristol, one said Esprit but thankfully for me he was already used, that one was Alpine and I still need to get for my conga.

Meet Rosanna!!
This year's Brick & Mortar special model is on the Shagya Arabian mold in a rose grey coat. She was revealed not long ago and wasn't long before she was being offered up, this one arrived not long after I preordered so I guess they got the stock in right away and then sent her out right away. I love rose greys so I am glad I was able to get her.

The second round of the CCA event has also come but like always can't really afford at the moment, especially after ordering Juriaan who also doesn't count towards it as it's only regular run stock that qualifies. Maybe one year I will be able to and also hopefully with really good models then too.

Meet Iquitos!!

Iquitos was the sneak peak from the previous newsletter & he was in fact part of the wild animal serious. He is based off poison dart frogs and is named after a region in South America. He is done on the Bristol mold, which has had a lot of web special/web raffle releases lately. He is gorgeous and I like he has a color gradient vs just being blue like most poison dart frogs when you look them up and they can come in other colors, blue just seems to be a popular type chosen.

That's all I have for this post, see y'all in the next one!!
(Info and pic of Juriaan and sneak peak come from Breyer, last two pics belong to me)

May Newsletter, Mid-Year Releases, Collector Club VIP Event, New Breyerfest Prize Model Reveal, & Vintage Club Releases!!

 May newsletter is here!!

The latest from Breyer from last month is the Collector Club VIP will happen later this year and soon entry for the lottery of being chosen to go will happen soon. This year it is called Hoofbeats & Maple Treats!! It is also the first international event as it will be hosted in Toronto, Canada!! It will take place from October 31st-November 2nd! I would love to attend this but it's not doable both time and funds wise with me moving to go back to uni to get my MBA. Toronto may be a tad far from where I grey up but the MN-CAN border was at least 3 hours from where I grew up.

The weekend will start at Woodbine Mohawk Park and Saturday will have two farm tours at Ballycroy Bloodstock and Lothlorian Farm, lunch will be provided at Lothlorian Farm. Then in the evening will have a dinner at the host hotel with dancing and a Halloween Costume party!! I love halloween and fall/autumn so I'm bummed I'm gonna miss all this. Sunday will have the Breyer Boutique where the event exclusive models will be. Celebration/guest horse is Tamakruz, sadly not much has been shared about him but I hope more information comes soon especially with the lottery due to open.
Next article in the news letter covers a new workshop for Collector Club models. It covers how "black doesn't have to be boring" hosted by Tegan Davis of Zebrastrepe Studios. Next it lets you know Breyerfest Preference forms are open for All Access ticket holders, that window has now passed and I submitted mine pretty much right away the day it opened after I got home from work. Then the newest post on the Breyer Blog is the history of Breyer VIP events which started in 2002. Then the may giveaway is the newest Cloud model, I am skipping this one because I am not only hoping to get one at Breyerfest but specifically from Ginger Kathrens booth as she usually has signed ones and I have mostly signed ones and would like to continue to get them plus the money goes straight to the Cloud Foundation, literally. Also lastly there is the sneak peak.
Looks like a possibly glow in the dark model on the classic rearing mustang/Nayati mold.  I doubt it's a halloween model, not only because it's early in the year but also the Nayati mold has already been used as the Halloween classic model as EEK! from 2021 who could be an almost mini me to Arachnid, this year's Halloween traditional model.

Meet Cin Cin!!
Cin Cin (pronounced cheen cheen) means "cheers" in Italian!! He is the Open Show Overall Reserve Champion prize and is on the vintage Clydesdale Stallion mold in a strawberry roan coat with turquoise ribbon sin his mane and tail. 12 lucky winners will be able to take this lad home. He is inspired by a hefty Italian Heavy Draft horse.
He seems like a sweet boy but thankfully he isn't something I immediately need, but good luck to everyone entered!!

Vintage Club Releases!!
Inferno:
Inferno was the first Vintage Club release, he's a blood bay pinto on the Black Stallion mold and came with a copy of the book The Black Stallions Blood Bay colt (prequel book of The Black Stallion's Sulky Colt) from The Black Stallion series by Walter Farley. He's a tad bit darker than what I thought a blood bay would be, the book may be part of the reason why because the Black's blood bay colt named Bonfire is described as bright fiery red with black points. Oh well, at least it came with the book because I'm starting to get my own copies of the series as I've only read them checking them out form the local library and school libraries to read them. Inferno is still very nice though and has a great high gloss finish.

Admiral & Wings:
Admiral & Wings are a father/daughter duo on the vintage 5 Gaiter & Saddlebred Weanling molds. They are both wedgewood blue pinto and Admiral has a blue & gold ribbon in his main for Breyer's colors. It's nice to see the weanling getting used again because it isn't used a whole lot for releases while the 5 Gaiter will get one every now and then and it's nice to see them together again as well.

Mustang Family:
The newest/most recent release is the Mustang Family. There's no names given to the individuals so looks like I'll have to come up with some for my set when it comes. This set is also the gamblers choice selection for the club this year and there are three possible color ways. Top picture is the grey appaloosa family, middle is the red roan (vintage version of coloring), then the last one is the charcoal family. I'm hoping for the grey appaloosa family but will take the strawberry/red roan family too. Charcoal for this set isn't doing it for me, to me not as flattering as the other two.

That's it for this post, until the next one, see y'all later!!

Newest Web Specials, Collector Club Appreciation Event Models, Breyerfest Prize Models!!

First Web Special of the Year was for the Exotic Destination Series which was...

Meet Prague!!

Prague is named after the capitol of the Czech Republic. This Prague is a Czech Warmblood on the Salinero mold (meaning there he goes again off the surprise horse guess list) and done in a dark dapple grey coat in a high gloss finish. He is gorgeous and I got lucky to be drawn for him!! Still have to get in hand photos of him, I sent him to my folks place and we've all been busy when it comes to in hand photos of models that arrive there.

Next is also from the Exotic Destination series which is...
Meet Mallorca!!
Mallorca is named for the golden sands of Mallorca, Spain. This Mallorca is a refined Andalusian stallion on the Duende/Spanish Stallion mold (meaning he too is off the surprise horse guess list) and sports a soft dapple buttermilk buckskin coat, he also has one blue eye!! He is so gorgeous and am really sad I was not chosen for him. Hopefully I can find him on the future for a decent price, especially close to his original offered price.

Most recently released for this series is...
Meet Machu Picchu!!

He is named for where the Peruvian Andes Mountains meet the Amazon Basin. This Machu Picchu is a Peruvian Paso stallion on the Peruvian Paso mold and done in a glossy metallic shaded dapple black coat. I'm pretty sure he was the sneak peak form the last Collector's Club newsletter. This guy is gorgeous and hooping I get chosen again this time around as I've gotten most of them already, only missing two or three at the moment, but the more I'm chosen for the better. Similar happened with the America the Beautiful Series and had worse luck with the Birds of a Feather series where I need to get more of them but some or so expensive due to popularity. Wish me luck on being drawn!!

April Fool's Day Raffle.
Meet Pal O Mine!!!
This was inspired by Breyer's mascot Pal O Mine who always appears at Breyerfest. This was after an April Fool's Day version of the model was revealed where it jokingly stated that Pal O Mine would have an official model added to the lineup to which then the following day this was revealed and stated to be a raffle with only 3 made and it was free to win. I of course entered, sadly not chosen and only saw one in hand photo of one which was cool. This version of Pal O Mine was made on the Nikolas mold and sports a shiny metallic palomino coat.
Custom version made solely for the April Fool's Day post. Kinda cut and looks most like teh mascot but sadly will sit in the vault with other never to be released models. Yes they raffle and auction off some but not all, I think there will always be some pieces they will never let go and others they decide are not worth keeping and let the public enjoy and create more room for other never to be released models.

The Collector Club Appreciation Event (CCA) recently happened and most of the models were pretty much the same as last time.
This years models were Quietway Spinabbey, Ideal Series Pony of the Americas, Atlanta, and Cossaco. The only one I would be interested in is Cossaco but I don't want to deal with trading and I don't have the money to spend on the event as always as I need to pay for other things at the moment. Maybe one day, have to wait and see.

Some of the prize model for Breyerfest have been revealed!! Let's take a look!!
Meet Szurkol!!
Szurkol is named after the Hungarian word for "cheers!" She is the Breyerfest Best Customs Grand Prize!! She is on the Shagya Arabian/Yasmin mold. She is a bright copper chestnut pinto!! She is gorgeous but sadly I am not entered in the contest and would have to hope I can get her in teh future for a song since not many are made.

Meet Skal!!
Skal is the Icelandic word for "cheers!" He is a splash copper chestnut on the Icelandic stablemate mold. He's cute but not my cup of tea. He is the Breyerfest Best Customs Reserve Prize.

That's all I have for now, see y'all in the next one!!!

Second Collector Club Appreciation Event of the Year

The second Collector Club Appreciation Event of the year recently happened, called CCA for short, how it works is if you put in your cart qualifying items that add up to a total of at least $150 (not including tax and shipping) and then enter the code, you get a free glossy model. There are four different possibilities of what glossy model you may get, this round is the same as the first which were glossy versions of Battlefield Angel, Appaloosa Ideal Quarter Horse, Mojave, & Get Rowdy. As always I am never able to spend that much on models especially with club models coming out recently then being followed by other important stuff like bills also taking my money. The only model I would've wanted is the appaloosa as thats the last of that series I need, but also maybe one day I'll be able to participate for once. Would be nice to experience it at least once.

This one is gonna be shorter as well as the the next one so the rest can be longer. This is just to switch it up a bit. So I'll see y'all in the next one!!

Collector Club May Newsletter!!

The Collector Club Newsletter is here!!

This month's edition mentions the release of Rio, learning to cast medallions,  virtual workshops for Breyerfest are available, link to article for wrap-up on the Spurs & Spokes event, and this month's giveaway is Gilded!!

Debating whether to enter or not as I plan to get this model hopefully soon, I may just enter for the heck of it, I haven't won any of the giveaways yet but I don't know. Also of course the sneak peak at the end as usual, this one looks to be of a dark bay colored model. I think it's of the shoulder neck area, maybe smoother rounder part of the haunches/hind quarters. Someone on social media said it looks like a stablemate, but considering how smooth it is I think it's a bigger scale. Classic/freedom at the smallest, but I think it's most likely a traditional scale as we are still expecting the mid-year releases. We were supposed to have reveals this month but nothing came so now it is anticipated for next month as usually they start to arrive around mid-June anyways. Can't wait to see what we'll get for the rest of the year!!

CCA Models!! July 4th Plushy!!!!

Looks like the sneak peek firm the previous collector club newsletter in fact was for the CCA and whoever guessed it has guessed correctly.

The glossy models for this year are Battlefield Angel "Ezra", Chestnut Appaloosa from Ideal Series on Geronimo, Mojave, and Get Rowdy. The Mojave is not surprisingly the most sought after then followed closely in second by Ezra. Get Rowdy is a decent 3rd as some like grey warmbloods and the Bristol mold and sadly the appaloosa isn't quite popular but some are finding their forever homes by those who do want him.

As usual, I am sadly not in a financial place to take part. I hope to one day just to see whom I'd get and have at least one very rare glossy model. Oh well, there is another usually in the fall, but I don't think quite that soon I'll find myself financial stable enough for it so I'm nit going to hold my breath for it.

The new fourth of July plushy for this year is Maverick!!
He sports the white and red stripes with hints of blue for the star patch. His name I believe is a tribute to Maverick form Top Gun played by Tom Cruise. It is a fitting name as whenever one thinks of the army, especially the air force, Maverick comes up first and is a top inspiration. I am hoping to get him soon as I feel he would go well with Sparkler and Indy from previous years.

That's it for today I will be covering some more tomorrow. See you all later.

Thoughts on Spokes & Spurs Models. Other Model Reveals at Spokes & Spurs.

Sorry for not posting this sooner, got busy with work and other things that made me slightly unmotivated to post when I wanted. So any way, let’s look at the Spokes & Spurs event models as well as others they have revealed.

First one I would like to discuss is the main, celebration horse model, Wimpy's Little Step:

Wimpy is a beautiful dark sooty palomino, he represents the spurs part of the event name. This mold was converted into a stallion for this model as the real life horse and a stallion, IDYB put in their notes on this model "stallion bits added" which I found funny. I love this model, and in the past I have stated that I am a sucker for sooty palominos and buckskins, especially the palominos. I hope to get this model one day so I can have more sooty palominos in my collection and continue to conga the mold. Maybe in the future we will see more stallions done on this mold as this is the only cutting/reining mold in the traditional scale lineup. Run number hasn't been revealed yet but I am assuming same amount as attendees.

Next the event stablemate, a Clydesdale named Ned:

Ned is a black and white clydesdale, he represents the spokes part of the event name. This little model is very cute, just like the real life horse he's based off of from the photos I've seen. He'd be nice to have one day as most of my stablemate clydesdales are the g3 mold which has been used by Breyer a lot lately. This mold is a newer one and is a shrunken version of the clydesdale stallion form the traditional scale lineup. Run number hasn't been revealed yet but I am assuming same amount as attendees.

Here is a flyer that was revealed with all the special runs:

First special run I'd like to discuss is Guthrie:

Guthrie is a grullo appaloosa on the foundation stallion mold. He is limited to 60 pieces and original asking price was $250. I have also stated it in the past but I'll say it again, I am a sucker for grullos. It is my fav dun dilute. I think he looks really cut eon the foundation stallion and I think he'd make a great mustang. Guthrie is named after the town of the same name in Oklahoma, where the event took place, according to history it was a train stop after the Land Run of 1889. He's definitely one model I'd like to own at some point in time, hopefully in the near-ish, not too far future.

Following in second is Ozark:

Ozark is what appears to be a bay/brown-ish dun on the Latigo mold. He is limited to 52 pieces and original asking price also is $250. I like him, his in hand pics are a bit better than on the flyer. I feel they haven't made many duns on this mold, and they don't quite use this mold as much anymore. He doesn't quite scream I have to try and find him right away, but is one I wouldn't mind getting eventually many years later if I happen to find a decent one. Ozark is named after the town of the same name, it is also a region that goes westward into northeast OK to extreme southeast KS. The name comes form the French Aux Arcs which means "with bows" and given by an early French explorer to the Bows Indians (Quapaw).

Followed in third is Redbud:

Redbud is a grey pinto on the John Henry mold. He is limited to 48 pieces and the original asking price was $250. I like him more than Ozark, I think he'd make a nice sporty pinto. But I wouldn't say he would be immediate, he'd be somewhere more in the middle as I am slowly building the John Henry conga as I want all the thoroughbred and standardbreds on the mold first. I, or I should say my Mom, has almost all the Native American horses on this mold. I do think Redbud would fit better with them but I do like grey pintos as I find them to be a bit rare, both in real life and in models, especially when done by Breyer. Redbud is named after the large shrub/small tree like plant that is also Oklahoma's state tree.

The mare & foal set is Biscuits & Gravy:

Biscuits & Gravy are done on the Misty & Sea Star molds. They are limited to 40 pieces and original asking price was $265. Surprisingly the unpopular, and yet in my opinion underrated and underused Sea Star mold was used to be paired with Misty than the popular and traditional stormy. Sea Star has only been paired with Misty one other time and has been used sparingly overall, his most recent release is Cascade & Caspian the blue unicorn mare & foal set. I do find them very cute and love the coloring on little gravy. I hope to get them at some point and it would be nice to have more on the Sea Star mold as I only have the one, Caspian. Biscuits & Gravy are obviously named after the foods pf the same name, which is a staple in the southern part of the United States. I can find them fairly easily here in Kentucky.

Second to last is Oklahoma Rose:

Oklahoma Rose is a stunning deep glossy bay with a blaze and four tall stockings and is done in the Gem Twist mold. He is limited to 104 pieces and original asking price was $195. It's nice to see Gem Twist again as it had been awhile since he was last used. He's mostly been used as OOAKs for Breyerfest in recent years and he is now considered vintage having been made back in 1993. I sadly don't have any on this mold but I would like to, I would like the original Snowman on this mold as I have the newer one on the Idocus mold. Closest I have to having a Gem Twist is my Aunt who got Peppermint Kiss during her first Breyerfest in 2022. Oklahoma Rose does look like he makes a great warmblood. My dad took a liking to this one when I shared a pic of Faded Love and he happened to be in it too. He is named after Oklahoma's state flower.

I saved the best fir last as he is certainly not least, so without further ado, FADED LOVE!!!:

Faded Love is a stunning bay going grey, almost rose grey, on my absolute fav mold, Esprit. He is limited to 96 pieces and original asking price was $195. Of course he takes top priority when it comes to trying to getting on of these models right away. This mold is quite very popular nor isn't used very much and is sadly one of those molds that Breyer mostly uses for limited run pieces when used. He's only had one portrait model and only one regular run release. Also grey is a very common color Breyer likes to use on this mold too. Pecos the 2011 Breyerfest celebration horse was an all white grey and the the 2014 holiday horse bay berry and roses was a rose grey. I'm not quite sure what he's named after, from my findings theres  a country song called Faded Love which is for Oklahoma state, and then there's a 1998 movie called Oklahoma Faded Love which doesn't look like it got good reviews. I'm gonna say most likely named after the song as it does sound like a song name, so I guess it's popular in Oklahoma.

There is one more event specific model, and it is the table center piece model that get raffled off to one of the people at the table. This year's is called Route 66:

Route 66 is a beautiful turquoise blue with copper decorator colored horse on the Western Prancing Horse. He is limited to 25 pieces and at least one has sold for over $2,000 on an eBay auction. I absolutely love this guy. He is similar to the center piece model from the collector club even not too long ago, it was done on the foal Camila mold which isn't used anymore sadly. Only one obtainable model has been released in this color, Bisbee on the Forever Saige mold, and I hope they do more with this color in the future as I find it looks quite nice especially once covered in gloss. Like Sunny, the centerpiece model from 2011, he may be hard to find and if I do find one, he'd go for a pretty penny. He of course is named after the once popular historical Route 66, which was part of the original numbered highway system, before the modern highway/freeway/interstate system went into place. It started in Chicago, IL and ended in Santa Monica in Los Angeles, CA. Taking you from one side of the country to the next, other states it crossed through were Missouri, Kansas, OKLAHOMA, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. You can still travel on parts of it and see old motels, mom & pop shops, and other things on it, others you sadly can't as they are long gone. There's also a popular song with the same name about the route and Route 66 use spanned from November 26, 1926-June 26, 1985. It's seen a lot of history over the years and there's a slight resurgence to explore it, mostly due to nostalgia but it is important to remember it and explore it so it all doesn't disappear one day. Anyway, I love the model and what it represents.

Amongst the reveals, most were another look at this year's Breyerfest models, but one wasn't, and it's a model whose mold I thought was never, or at least rarely, be used again due to lack in popularity, which is the Mangalarga Marchador. This model is called Rio, and he is the third in the Exotic Destination series. Along with Rio was the final stabelmate club model which is Augustus which is the new mold that is always released in the club once it comes to the last model of the year. He is a flaxen chestnut pinto and sculpted by Sarah Minkiewicz-Bruening. Augustus looks fairly large though most new molds have been larger than in the past, but he looks very stocky and stouty, he may be a draft or a mustang.

(All pics belong to original owners, information comes form Breyer and wikipedia for quick basic information about Oklahoma.)

Surprise Horse Guesses!! Breyerfest is Tomorrow!!

With Breyerfest being tomorrow, I am in need of posting my guesses for this year's surprise model. I haven't have much time to think...
