Surprise Horse Guesses!! Breyerfest is Tomorrow!!

With Breyerfest being tomorrow, I am in need of posting my guesses for this year's surprise model. I haven't have much time to think about it but with the mid year and auction model reveals it does help narrow it down, and I do try to wait for those to help.

So, without further ado, my top guesses are:

  • Forever Saige/Mustang Mare
  • Arabian Mare/S Justa Dream
  • National Show Horse/Rejoice
  • Cantering Warmblood
  • Ruffian
  • Rain
  • Fell Pony
  • Friesian Sport Horse
  • Amazigh Stallion
  • Smart Chic Olena
  • Georg
  • Henry
  • Tigerlily
  • Firefly
  • Strapless
  • Trotting Arabian Mare
  • Welsh Pony Mare
  • Wixom
  • Marabella
  • Lipizzaner Mare
  • Lady Phase
  • Brishen/Gypsy Vanner
  • Valegro
  • Adonis
  • Keltic Salinero
  • German Riding Pony
  • Sport Pony Fjord (highly unlikely but gets listed as a different mold rather than the same as Astrid)
  • Duende
  • Geronimo
  • Show Stance Arabian Mare
  • Gem Twist
  • Show Jumping Warmblood
  • Shire Gelding
  • Shagya Arabian
  • Desatado
  • Croi
  • Bluegrass bandit
  • Big Ben
  • Paso Fino
  • Boomerang
  • Ashquar
  • Troubadour
  • American Saddlebred Stallion
So far  that is what I could come up with that would fit the theme, age of molds, and every other criteria the surprise models seem to follow.
That is al I have for this post, see y'all in the next one, which will be tomorrow as I do a recap of day 1 of Breyerfest!!

New Test Model Available to Club Members, New Live Auction Sneak Reveals, Raffle Model Reveals, New Surprise Speculations!!!

This test model is the Show Jumping Warmblood (SJW) in a flea-bitten grey coat in the loose mane and tail version. This mold debuted in 2005, sculpted by Susan Carlton Sifton, and has been popular ever since. It is believed this model was painted in the early 2000s, most likely around the mold's debuted. Based off his coloration and nose marking I believe he was a test for Cedric, whom was one of the first few portraits on this mold. I believe he was tested in both loose and braided mane version and the owners chose which they liked best, the braided was the official release. If not I slightly he could've been a been a test for Milton who was released around the same time as Cedric, but Cedric seems most likely. Many online thought this was a test for this year's celebration horse, but based off the info given on this model by Breyer, which I'm sure they keep fairly good records on models tested for production, and the fact his markings/coloration and shading don't match Phish's, I don't think that was the case. He is lovely, but as always OOAKs and tests are out of my price range, especially when made available around Breyerfest time.

More auction models have been revealed, these weren't on the blog, but spotted when many went it the online site Breyer uses for online bids which is "Bidspirit".
The Western Horse makes an appearance in the lineup as the first lot. He is in a beautiful dark grey coat with four socks, his take appears to be black with gold trim. A nice model to start off the auction and bidding with, wish I was able to get him as I've been on a dark grey kick lately.
Rugged Lark makes an appearance, the first in 2008, 2014 if you count the warehouse find that was Patch from 2008. I once tentatively thought of him for the surprise, but then nixed that idea based off him being a vintage mold. Nice to see him again but I hope he gets another as he has become very underutilized and doesn't have many releases, especially in large quantities, since his debut in 1989. This one is a gorgeous black pintaloosa, and I am a sucker for pintaloosas as they are rare, especially in the model horse world.

Before making an appearance on Bidspirit, this one seemed to have been accidentally emailed to people, my guess was meant to be sent to Bidpsirit to be posted but a wrong button was pressed somewhere. A lot of people wanted Proud Arabian Mare (PAM) to be the surprise as she isn't used a lot due to copyright, and her last appearance for Breyerfest was 2018 as Sierra Rose. She'd be nice to have a release like that, but I think the mold is too vintage anyway to be utilized. Hopefully she has another Breyerfest special run or store special release in the future aside from club releases. This one comes with a foal on the Proud Arabian Foal (PAF) mold. Mare is a chestnut pinto with the foal appearing to be a dun/buckskin pinto. Unfortunately these still aren't posted on Bidspirit, my guess they won't be until tomorrow aside from what is already been seen in person.

Raffle models revealed!!
Saturday raffle is:
Meet Cheers!!!

Cheers is on the Lady Phase mold in a silver blanket appaloosa coat with two hind socks, and the swish tail version of the mold. She was first revealed in the online program, but there she is in a matte finish, and when added to the live auction lineup (as one of each raffle is always auctioned off) she was seen sporting a glossy coat. I tis believed that Breyer made the decision to make the auction models glossy to make them more special from the ones raffles off. That is a nice change as make the auction ones a bit more special as 25-26 are made of each raffle model.

Sunday raffle is:
Meet B'saha!!!
B'saha means "to your health" or "enjoy" in the Arabic dialect of Morocco. He is on the Amazigh Stallion mold in a gorgeous black sabino-tobiano coat!! Like Lady Phase, this version will sport a high glossy finish while the ones to be raffled off will be matte. That means this guy is off the surprise guess list, that slightly helps narrow it down.

Surprise Horse Speculations!! More Auction Lots Revealed!!

Let's start with the auction lots first.

Lot #8!!

This is a mare and foal set on the vintage Misty & Stormy molds sporting pearly rainbow pinto coats completed with gold mapping/outlining with gold hooves, haven't seen that on an OOAK in a while. I was slightly thinking Misty for the surprise but she was so low on the list due to her being both vintage and a pony mold which Breyer typically doesn't use. So I think it's safe to say she definitely isn't the surprise.

Lot #9

This is the vintage Gem Twist mold in a beautiful buckskin sabino coat. Love the look of this coat and Gem Twist was another vintage mold I sort of contemplated for potential o f being the surprise but I don't think he'll have a Breyerfest appearance again for another while. Shame I like this one and he'd be cool in various coats and he isn't used as much anymore as well.

Lot #10
This is the Altynai/Akhal-Teke mold in a flashy glossy dappled flaxen deep liver chestnut tobiano coat. This mold was at the top of my surprise horse guess list but I need to remove him now because Breyer usually doesn't show a variation like this in their auction lot reveal post and usually the surprise lot is a complete set and/or deco/color variation that didn't make the final coat. Shame a running action mold would've been cool, he could've had a ton of cool variations and his pose is almost party/celebration like.

Lot #12
The vintage Fighting Stallion makes an appearance this Breyerfest as an OOAK in a glossy palomino coat with etching of various imagery. He was designed b y the ever so talented Kathleen Moody. I didn't fully consider this mold for the surprise, it would've been cool and fit the theme, but I feel this mold would be too old and the oldest molds are usually reserved for mire special models like OOAKs, web specials, club models, and other limited editions. If anything he may be used as a vintage special run but not a surprise with how many they produce nowadays.

Lot #14

Sherman Morgan makes an appearance as an OOAK sporting a rich dappled bay blanket appaloosa coat. I very briefly thought about him as a surprise candidate but then thought no not just because he's vintage but also it'd be too on the nose as he was a limited release called "Carpe Diem" years ago, meaning "Seize the Day" and an OOAK called "Carpe Nochte(?)" meaning "Seize the Night". Another shame because he's really nice too with not too many releases lately as well.

Lot #15
This is the new Murgese/Cosimo mold, the first release of this year's Premier Lub and the first release literally just became available as of writing this even though they usually come out after Breyerfest but it's a bit early this year surprisingly. This one is in a delicious high glossy sooty palomino coat, and sadly it's an OOAK so that means little to near impossible for me to get and I am an absolute suck for sooty/smutty palominos!! Also it's interesting show him form this angle, so I have no idea if he has any markings on his face or not. Kinda interesting, gonna have to wait for either more pics of him or see him in person, whatever comes first.

New/Updated Guesses List for the Surprise Horse!!

So with all the new releases and reveals leading up to Breyerfest, this means some changes have to be made to the list for surprise horse speculations. so with all that in mind and having to update my initial guesses list, this is now what it looks like and what I think could be the surprise horse for this year's Breyerfest:

  • Just A Dream/Make A Wish
  • Forever Saige
  • Ruffian
  • Strapless
  • Marabella
  • Fell Pony
  • Zafirah
  • Goffert
  • Rain
  • Rejoice/National Show Horse
The rest are either too new and/or used for something else, or are vintage and are unlikely to be used as Breyer always uses a fairly new mold or at least one that is very old. So far I am now stumped on what else it could be as everything else has been crossed off due to new releases/reveals and other aside form that are extreme hypotheticals, those being:
  • Desatado
  • Salinero
  • Emerson
  • Misty
  • Missuori Fox Trotter
  • Othello
  • Boomerang
  • Clydesdale Mare
  • Silver
  • Gaming Stock Horse/Wyatt
  • Gem Twist
  • Idocus
  • Smart Chic Olena
  • Zippo Pine Bar
  • Galiceno
  • Huckleberry Bey
  • Brishen/Gyspy Vanner
  • Lipizzaner Mare
  • The extreme reach being the new mustang mare, that will come with a foal, from this years premier club that has yet to be released and I believe it will be the last release for the club this year.
That's all I could think of of my top initial releases fail. Mostly hoping my top 5 are correct. Below you can see how much my list has changed since the start of guessing and the start of the year with all the releases and reveals coming out since then.
