Meet Vindur from Dalalif!!
The Icelandic is one of the purest breeds in the world, they have been isolated on the island since the Norse first settled over 1,100 years ago. They are a hardy breed that can withstand the harsh cold in winter and navigate various terrain from rocky volcanos to sandy beaches. Icelandics are known for their unique gait, the
tölt, a four beat lateral gait. They can be found all over the world and have become popular, especially in the states, for their docile temperament. Icelandics have also become a popular for children and adults alike.
Vindur from Dalalif is a silver chocolate black coat 16 year old Icelandic stallion. Vindur was bred in California and acquired by owner Lucy Nold as a 5 year old. They have since dominated the West Coast in Icelandic breed shows, his speciality is the V2 class, also known as the Open Four-Gait where horses must present the trot, canter, slow t
ölt, and fast t
ölt. Vindur was ranked the top V2 horse in the International Federation of Icelandic Horse Associations' world rankings in 2023, 2024 and third for 2025.He also held the title for highest judged domestic bred four gaited Icelandic stallion since 2018. Vindur also has an exceptional personality and is a very loving and goofy stallion. He is a star on the trails and on the beach as he never puts a hoof out of line. Vindur has also been shown by many of Lucy's younger student riders and won top placings with them, Lucy also hopes one day her daughter can take the reins on this stallion and fall in love with the Icelandic breed.
Vindur from Dalalif is presented on the Icelandic Stallion mold and sports his chocolate black coat with flowing silver mane and tail along with his star on his forehead. I will later give an update on what his run number is along with other Breyerfest releases in a separate post.
I really like him, I'm a sucker for silver blacks and it's nice to have one featured on the Icelandic mold, plus Breyer doesn't do many Icelandics, especially not portrait ones. So with that being said, I will definitely being getting him at Breyerfest this year.
Meet Scandi Surprise!!
The surprise logo/image and name has been revealed!! Of course what mold and colors and such it will be is a surprise, this means time for predictions. My guesses/speculations will be in a separate post, but I cannot wait to see what it'll be!!
Meet Birka & Ribe!!
Considered one of Sweden's oldest towns, Birka (pronounced Beerka with a rolled "r"), was established in the year 750. It was a trading market and flourished for more than 200 years. Merchants from Scandinavia, continental Europe, and the Orient came to buy, sell, and trade goods such as furs, antlers, and walrus tusk, Chinese silk, glass, metalware, pottery, amber, and honey. In the middle of the 10th century it became abandoned for unknown reasons, but a wealth of information has been left behind along with about 3,000 graves. Ribe (pronounced Reebuh with a rolled "r"), was founded around 710, is the oldest town in Denmark. It was also a thriving market town for several hundred years. Like Birka, merchants from western Europe and as east as China came to buy, sell, and trade. Ribe was founded on the King of Denmark's orders where Birka was not. The King's mint (of coin) was in Ribe during the 11th & 12th centuries.
This Birka & Ribe are the mare & foal set for this year. Birka the mare, is on the Lonesome Glory mold in a chestnut appaloosa coat. Her colt Ribe is on the Gilen mold in a palomino appaloosa coat and his marking on his forehead is described as hammer shaped. These two are cute and I really like the foal, i really love his shading and it reminds me of the palomino coloration on Dead Heat from Breyerfest 2018 and Lydia the TSC special that is on the Lonesome Glory mold. I will be getting these two.
Meet Pyxis av Drommarna!!
The Knabstrupper is a rare and ancient breed originating from Denmark, they were influenced by spotted Spanish horses. Their most famous coat is the leopard spotted as it is loud and colorful, Knabstruppers were bred for sports and excels in a variety of disciplines ranging from dressage, jumping, and eventing. The breed is known to have an incredible temperament and loves to please people, making them excellent mounts for for junior and amateur riders.
In the past few decades this Danish breed has made its way to the Americas. Pyxis is a 12 year old Knabstrupper stallion who is becoming well known and is passing on his calmness, athleticism, and flashy coat to his offspring.
Pyxis is owned by Kimberly Ramirez of Shakespeare Farm LLC and he embodies the unique beauty of the breed with his docile nature and intelligence. He is the sole Knabstrupper stallion approved for life by the Canadian Warmblood Horse Association, the Knabstrupperforeningen (KNN), & the Westfalen Knabstrupper book simultaneously. Pyxis has also achieved top placings in dressage and eventing competitions. Kimberly's mission is to bring awareness to the Knabstrupper in the US and is working on expanding her breeding program to produce top sport horses. Having Pyxis join her team has been a dream come true not just eye-catching, but also by being willing, versatile, & rideable.
Pyxis av Drommarna's model is on the Idocus mold (there goes that surprise horse guess), and sports his flashy chestnut leopard spotted appaloosa coat. He is the second limited edition/store special portrait model reveal for the year!!
I am excited that there is a Knabstrupper model in use, slightly sad its Idocus not just because I had high hopes he'd finally be the surprise but also he was used back in 2022 for another Breyerfest portrait model guest horse due to him being a warmblood plus in my experience Knabstruppers are a bit smaller of a warmblood and could've had a pony mold like bouncer work or something similar, oh well. Also slightly surprised they did not use the braided mane and tail version so he's competition ready but oh well. I do like him and do want to get him plus I don't think Breyer has done many, if any, Knabstruppers in the past and would love to add one to my collection.
Meet Hirtir!!
The Red Deer is one of the largest species of deer in the world and inhabits nearly all of western Europe, most of eastern Europe, and parts of the middle east, the Baltic region and a vey small part of northern Africa. These creatures have been depicted in cave art dating back to more than 40,000 years ago and continued to fascinate artists and storytellers through the middle ages. It is also one of the largest land dwelling mammals of Sweden and is an important part of the region's history and culture. In Norse mythology it is recorded in both the poem of Grimnismal and the story of Gylfagnning that four stags grazed upon the branches of Yggdrasil, the World Tree, & the dew collected from the branches by their antlers created the rivers of the world. Hiritr (pronounced as Heertir), is translated from Old Norse in both sources as "hart".
This Hirtir is the non-equine model for this year and is on the vintage elk mold which had it's last appearance which was also it's last Breyerfest release in 2018 as Inari. This guy does not thrill me as Inari did, also in the sneak peak I thought it was a goat as the ye and coloration looke dmore like how they've done goats in the past, especially for Breyerfest. I am surprised there are 2 non horse models for the year, usually it's just one and it either not a horse but an equid (ie mule like Aquavit, or a zebra or donkey even extinct species like the Quagga), or its not an equid at all (is this guy and Inari or even dogs, bulls, and goats of the past including bears). The VIP for this year has changed, along with the other tickets, in structure and especially even pricing, I'll go over that fully in another post but I will say if I do get VIP that will inevitably include this guy but the rest I like. I have also gotten my ticket already as they have gone for sale prior to this post, but I won't quite reveal which I got just yet.
