Surprise Horse Speculations!! More Auction Lots Revealed!!

 Let's start with the auction lots first.

Lot #8!!

This is a mare and foal set on the vintage Misty & Stormy molds sporting pearly rainbow pinto coats completed with gold mapping/outlining with gold hooves, haven't seen that on an OOAK in a while. I was slightly thinking Misty for the surprise but she was so low on the list due to her being both vintage and a pony mold which Breyer typically doesn't use. So I think it's safe to say she definitely isn't the surprise.

Lot #9

This is the vintage Gem Twist mold in a beautiful buckskin sabino coat. Love the look of this coat and Gem Twist was another vintage mold I sort of contemplated for potential o f being the surprise but I don't think he'll have a Breyerfest appearance again for another while. Shame I like this one and he'd be cool in various coats and he isn't used as much anymore as well.  

Lot #10

This is the Altynai/Akhal-Teke mold in a flashy glossy dappled flaxen deep liver chestnut tobiano coat. This mold was at the top of my surprise horse guess list but I need to remove him now because Breyer usually doesn't show a variation like this in their auction lot reveal post and usually the surprise lot is a complete set and/or deco/color variation that didn't make the final coat. Shame a running action mold would've been cool, he could've had a ton of cool variations and his pose is almost party/celebration like.

Lot #12

The vintage Fighting Stallion makes an appearance this Breyerfest as an OOAK in a glossy palomino coat with etching of various imagery. He was designed b y the ever so talented Kathleen Moody. I didn't fully consider this mold for the surprise, it would've been cool and fit the theme, but I feel this mold would be too old and the oldest molds are usually reserved for mire special models like OOAKs, web specials, club models, and other limited editions. If anything he may be used as a vintage special run but not a surprise with how many they produce nowadays. 

Lot #14

Sherman Morgan makes an appearance as an OOAK sporting a rich dappled bay blanket appaloosa coat. I very briefly thought about him as a surprise candidate but then thought no not just because he's vintage but also it'd be too on the nose as he was a limited release called "Carpe Diem" years ago, meaning "Seize the Day" and an OOAK called "Carpe Nochte(?)" meaning "Seize the Night". Another shame because he's really nice too with not too many releases lately as well.

Lot #15

This is the new Murgese/Cosimo mold, the first release of this year's Premier Lub and the first release literally just became available as of writing this even though they usually come out after Breyerfest but it's a bit early this year surprisingly. This one is in a delicious high glossy sooty palomino coat, and sadly it's an OOAK so that means little to near impossible for me to get and I am an absolute suck for sooty/smutty palominos!! Also it's interesting show him form this angle, so I have no idea if he has any markings on his face or not. Kinda interesting, gonna have to wait for either more pics of him or see him in person, whatever comes first.

Mid-Year Release Reveals, New Prize Model Reveal for Breyerfest, Auction Model Reveals!!

 Mid-year releases have been revealed!!

Meet Manaos!!

She descends from legendary racehorse Northern Dancer and polo pony royalty!! This dark bay mare is a favorite amongst American polo champion Nic Roldan's string of mounts. He riders her in pregame warmups and the first or second chukker, or round, of a match. Primarily competing in Argentina, this has lead to a sturdy cross of Criollos and Thoroughbreds as polo becomes more popular in the area. I was honestly surprised to see a polo pony pop up, it has been a while since they made one especially for the regular run line and on this mold. Also this now means there is a mare variation of the Smarty Jones mold amongst the stallions and occasional geldings!! Definitely need to get her at some point.

Meet the last two 75th Anniversary Special Models!!

These are the newest and last of the 75th Anniversary exclusive models. These two are on the American Saddlebred Stallion mold and Smart Chic Olena molds respectively. The Saddlebred look's to be in a buckskin appaloosa coat with the silhouettes, and SCO seems to be a grulla pinto with the silhouettes. I love both of them, I might like them a bit more than the western horse and lonesome glory, but I will get all of them, I already have the Esprit of course (right now he's called telenovela but may change it to Telemundo, idk, maybe both).

Meet 4-Ever Friends Gift Sets!!

Choose between either the grey or the silver bay, each horse will come with a halter, lead, and kit to make a friendship bracelet!! The grey is named Lumina and the silver bay is Ariana. Lumina is on the Mariah mold and Lumina is on the vintage Arabian Mare mold, whom hasn't had a regular run release in a long while, usually she is used for limited releases as web specials and club models. Nice to see her have a longer release.

These are so cute!! Wish there was something like this when I was a kid, regardless I think I'll get them because they're cute and I like doing crafts, especially bracelet making. 

Meet Chip!!

The newest desert inspired classic is mint chip!! It appears he was the sneak peak from the latest Collector Club Newsletter and is not glow in the dark, he sort of still looks it here, but hopefully it's a bit better in hand. I do like him and I do like mint chip, I feel it's underrated and very wrongfully hated. It does not taste like toothpaste. Toothpaste uses spear mint while ice-cream and deserts usually use creme de mint as its smoother and nicer vs pure/raw and spearmint. Cream really washes flavor out same with chocolate but that's all I'm gonna say on the matter. 

Meet Gems f the Ocean Gift Set!!

Frosted deco stablemates are back and they are unicorns representing treasure from the sea. There's a blue fireheart, pink prince charming, purple croi, and green twist. I really like them and like these frosted ones a bit better than some of the ones they have done in the past. Their manes and tails look to be covered in glitter and a nice watery backdrop rests behind them. 

Meet Mane Beauty Sweet Shop & Flower Shop!!

New mane and beauty sets have arrived after some retired last year, this time as a sweet shop and flower shop with two new horses whose names have not been given. The sweet shop comes with a new looking unicorn, i may call her sprinkles for now, and the flower shop comes with a new flashy bald face buckskin that I really like. Each horse comes with. a brush-able mane and tail, travel case that opens into a shop with accessories to set up the store front, great gifts for littler/younger horse enthusiasts. 

Meet Santé!!

Santé (sahn-tay) is French for good health, in other words, cheers or congratulations! He is the Open Show Overall Champion prize and will be awarded to 12 lucky winners. He is a rich dapple bay Selle Francais on the Carrick/Walking Thoroughbred Mold, sadly i think this means he will not be the surprise horse this year, maybe next year or sometime else. He is handsome and wish I could add him to my herd but that may have to wait for another time in the future. Good luck to everyone who is entered!!

Auction models are starting to be revealed!! Let's look at the first wave!!

Lot #3

This is a OOAK Othello in a bright bay sabino coat. He looks pretty nice and I thought he was chestnut at first, his coloration is really flushed out but that's a great detail not too many models have sadly. This I think takes him out of the running for this year's surprise horse possibilities.

Lot #5

This one is Wyatt/Gaming Stock Horse sporting a black splash coat, he almost looks emo but not as emo as the raffle model on the icelandic stallion mold from earlier this decade. This I feel slightly takes him off for surprise horse candidacy, but I'll have to see what can and can't especially as Breyer changes their "rules" every year now to keep us on our toes but I feel Othello is a lot more out than this guy. 

Lot #6

This 5-Gaiter is in a bay sabino overo frame coat. Looks like he could be the grandpa to the chestnut overo surprise horse from Breyerfest 2023. This guy I wasn't worried about being the surprise horse, he's vintage and he just had a club release come out recently so he's out of the question indefinitely. 

Lot #7

This Cantering Warmblood/True North is in a deliciously gorgeous strawberry roan coat. I think this sadly means he will not be a surprise horse, shame, but I don't think anything could top this coat if it was. At least not this year, oh well, maybe another year, same for Keltic Salinero.

May Newsletter, Mid-Year Releases, Collector Club VIP Event, New Breyerfest Prize Model Reveal, & Vintage Club Releases!!

 May newsletter is here!!

The latest from Breyer from last month is the Collector Club VIP will happen later this year and soon entry for the lottery of being chosen to go will happen soon. This year it is called Hoofbeats & Maple Treats!! It is also the first international event as it will be hosted in Toronto, Canada!! It will take place from October 31st-November 2nd! I would love to attend this but it's not doable both time and funds wise with me moving to go back to uni to get my MBA. Toronto may be a tad far from where I grey up but the MN-CAN border was at least 3 hours from where I grew up.

The weekend will start at Woodbine Mohawk Park and Saturday will have two farm tours at Ballycroy Bloodstock and Lothlorian Farm, lunch will be provided at Lothlorian Farm. Then in the evening will have a dinner at the host hotel with dancing and a Halloween Costume party!! I love halloween and fall/autumn so I'm bummed I'm gonna miss all this. Sunday will have the Breyer Boutique where the event exclusive models will be. Celebration/guest horse is Tamakruz, sadly not much has been shared about him but I hope more information comes soon especially with the lottery due to open.

Next article in the news letter covers a new workshop for Collector Club models. It covers how "black doesn't have to be boring" hosted by Tegan Davis of Zebrastrepe Studios. Next it lets you know Breyerfest Preference forms are open for All Access ticket holders, that window has now passed and I submitted mine pretty much right away the day it opened after I got home from work. Then the newest post on the Breyer Blog is the history of Breyer VIP events which started in 2002. Then the may giveaway is the newest Cloud model, I am skipping this one because I am not only hoping to get one at Breyerfest but specifically from Ginger Kathrens booth as she usually has signed ones and I have mostly signed ones and would like to continue to get them plus the money goes straight to the Cloud Foundation, literally. Also lastly there is the sneak peak.

Looks like a possibly glow in the dark model on the classic rearing mustang/Nayati mold.  I doubt it's a halloween model, not only because it's early in the year but also the Nayati mold has already been used as the Halloween classic model as EEK! from 2021 who could be an almost mini me to Arachnid, this year's Halloween traditional model.

Meet Cin Cin!!

Cin Cin (pronounced cheen cheen) means "cheers" in Italian!! He is the Open Show Overall Reserve Champion prize and is on the vintage Clydesdale Stallion mold in a strawberry roan coat with turquoise ribbon sin his mane and tail. 12 lucky winners will be able to take this lad home. He is inspired by a hefty Italian Heavy Draft horse.

He seems like a sweet boy but thankfully he isn't something I immediately need, but good luck to everyone entered!!

Vintage Club Releases!!

Inferno:

Inferno was the first Vintage Club release, he's a blood bay pinto on the Black Stallion mold and came with a copy of the book The Black Stallions Blood Bay colt (prequel book of The Black Stallion's Sulky Colt) from The Black Stallion series by Walter Farley. He's a tad bit darker than what I thought a blood bay would be, the book may be part of the reason why because the Black's blood bay colt named Bonfire is described as bright fiery red with black points. Oh well, at least it came with the book because I'm starting to get my own copies of the series as I've only read them checking them out form the local library and school libraries to read them. Inferno is still very nice though and has a great high gloss finish. 

Admiral & Wings:

Admiral & Wings are a father/daughter duo on the vintage 5 Gaiter & Saddlebred Weanling molds. They are both wedgewood blue pinto and Admiral has a blue & gold ribbon in his main for Breyer's colors. It's nice to see the weanling getting used again because it isn't used a whole lot for releases while the 5 Gaiter will get one every now and then and it's nice to see them together again as well. 

Mustang Family:

The newest/most recent release is the Mustang Family. There's no names given to the individuals so looks like I'll have to come up with some for my set when it comes. This set is also the gamblers choice selection for the club this year and there are three possible color ways. Top picture is the grey appaloosa family, middle is the red roan (vintage version of coloring), then the last one is the charcoal family. I'm hoping for the grey appaloosa family but will take the strawberry/red roan family too. Charcoal for this set isn't doing it for me, to me not as flattering as the other two.

Breyerfest Volunteer/Ambassador Model Reveal, Essay Contest Winners, VIP Swag Reveal!!

 Meet Salud!!

Salud is the volunteer, rather now called the ambassador model, for this year's Breyer(notso)MidWest and Breyerfest. He is named after the Spanish words for "cheers". So far two color ways have been revealed and a third, like the past couple of years, will be revealed at Breyerfest next month. He is inspired and based off of the Mangalarga Paulista which is closely related to the Mangalarga Marchador, which at first he was labeled as which I thought odd as they have a mold for that breed but glad it was changed for a different Spanish breed. He was designed by Lesli Kathman who created a unique "modular" white pattern for all three models so they will all be uniquely different. The model shown at the top is the black with "belton spotting" where there is black spots in his white markings, and the one below him is a fleabitten grey with a reverse marking, he has a solid black back leg. The third will definitely be very interesting to see. My guess is a light white grey with reverse pinto markings that will be black and belton spotting on the legs. Though so far the fleabitten grey is my fav of the two shown so far, hopefully I can acquire him one day. Amount of each variation will be revealed later, more than likely when this years edition of Just About Horses (JAH) is sent to Collector Club members.

Essay contest models have been revealed and and will be mid-year releases for this year. Let's take a look at them!! 

Meet Cash!!

Cash is an American Quarter Horse. He may have never seen high level competition but has taught many children to ride. He's a tried and true lesson horse. He has since retired as a lesson horse and he and now current owner Andrew spend their days together. Cash has helped rekindle a love of horse Andrew had lost. Together they have taken part in ranch roping, a new passion for both of them, and Andrew was the one that sent an essay in. Cash is depicted on the Australian Stock Horse, aka Dundee, mold and features his dappled buckskin coat. Good to know the mold will finally have a regular run release after so many limited releases for Breyerfest, the Collector Club, and a dealer limited edition runs like for TSC and Flagship.

Meet Thiarnain!!

Thiarnain (pronounced keer-naan), is a 15 year old part bred Gypsy Vanner/Irish Cob mare. She is owned by Kimberly, Kimberly had suffered from ovarian cancer that left her unable to ride. So instead she turned to driving to spend time with her best horse friend. Together with her nieces they trained Thiarnain to drive and become a vital part of their equestrian team, the even made it to state finals. Thiarnain has since become a multi-state grand champion since then. Kimberly's health has thankfully since then improved and she can ride again!! Since then she has been in the saddle everyday. Thiarnain is represented on the knew Gypsy Vanner Mare/Irish Cob Mare/Rhiannon mold, and upon editing and reviewing this I've learned she's only a runner up and therefore will only remain as an OOAK gifted to her owner and the same has happened with the next one I am about to cover. Shame, this mold deserves a regular run release and this model is is beautiful and has a cute face. The story is also very touching and has just as much right to be a model as the main winner, Cash.

Meet Skip to my Lulu!!

Lulu is a one-eyed miniature horse. Owner Aimee met her at 11 years old. Lulu was originally untouchable, wild, and deemed un-adoptable by the rescue, but after three hours of cat and mouse Aimee was able to calm Lulu down and stroke her muzzle. After 15 years and countless hours of training, Lulu is a different horse!! Lulu also has countless titles from championships and including 2016 USEF Horse Stars Hall of Fame. Lulu can also read people, she can go form hot and spicy putting on a show to then walk over to someone in a wheelchair and out her head on them calmly. She also patiently stands when visiting nursing homes. Lulu is depicted on the Midnight Tango mold. Again this is only an OOAK release given to the owner and again it's a shame as it's been awhile since there's been a pony release, especially for the regular run lineup and this mold. Oh well, maybe one day.

VIP Swag for Breyerfest has been revealed!!

This year's swag pack with offer two variety of backpack colors and three color variations of can cozies that will all be given at random. All packs will include diamond sun glasses, a diamond drink tumbler, stickers, pins, and a key chain. I do really like this year's swag. It slightly reminds me of the 90s/early 2000s, really hoping for the rose gold and yellow/orange can cozy. Hoping they will let us choose to a point or at least I would be able to easily trade. The pins are deco versions of the celebration horse, Belesema, and Get This Party Started and maybe the 75th Anniversary logo, the key chain is a head silhouette of the Andalusian Stallion mold. Stickers are of Halcyonia, Let The Good Times Roll, Yolo, Hats Off To You and 75th Anniversary logo. Slightly sad I wasn't able to get 2 VIP tickets this year but at least I got 1, I know my mom also likes getting a Swag pack hence one of the reasons I get 2 and pink is her fav color so I know she would've liked her own pink bag and can cozy but she's at least fine skipping it this year. Funds are a little tight for everyone this year. Though I did get more all access tickets and pretty much filled out and submitted my preference forms right away so I hopefully have a good chance of getting everything I want.
